Dear Member,

2026 SUMMER SHOW
It is not long before our summer show on Saturday 11th July. I hope you can make it as it is a good opportunity to meet up with other members and have a catch up. See the Show Guide (pdf) including the show schedule with over 60 classes. I am looking forward to attempting the Orange Loaf cake class which sounds delicious and is a Mary Berry recipe. We will have tea, coffee and refreshments available and a raffle after the prize giving. Please come along and show your support for the society.
Don’t forget to return any cups or trophies in good time and we look forward to seeing you on the day. As we are at the Community Centre again this year, the Trading shed will be closed on that morning.

WISLEY
We had about 16 people gather for our guided tour of RHS Wisley with Helen Baker RHS show judge and botanist. Her enthusiasm and knowledge ensured we not only learnt about the plants and flowers but also all about the history of the site and how it has evolved.
The manor house is now a museum and well worth a look. It comprises three buildings joined together, hence the eclectic styles and roof line. The water lily pond has one of the largest water lily collections in Europe and the covered area that overlooks this pond was once the original site of the potting shed. The tour took about an hour and a half, finishing at the rose garden which still radiated colour and scent. We were then able to continue looking around at our leisure before everyone headed home. A fabulous day was had by all. Many thanks to Helen Baker for the tour and to Gillian Rose for organising. Below are some of the lovely displays. The delphiniums were part of the trials garden with clever netting to keep them upright.

Dates for the Diary:
Saturday 11th July – Summer Show, Church Crookham Community Centre, Boyce Road, GU528AR
Saturday 10th October – Quiz night, WI Hall, The Street, Crookham Village GU515SJ

Happy Gardening
