Dear Member, Thursday 26th March 2026
Thank you to all those people that supported our Spring Show last Saturday. It was lovely to see so many people and such a lovely display of flowers. Better timing this year for the daffodils definitely paid off. I will send out the show report as soon as it is completed.
Firstly, a warning if you are visiting the shed. You cannot turn into Sandy Lane from Aldershot Road, Church Crookham (that is the Wyvern Pub end). You can only access the Memorial Hall car park from the other end of Sandy Lane, off Beacon Hill Road. We are hoping to be able to park in the Wyvern pub car park and walk over but have not confirmed this yet. We will of course have helpers available to wheelbarrow any purchases over to your car. I don’t know how many weeks this will be go on for but we will keep you posted.

2026 Saturday Shed Volunteers
Our next event is a talk by David Standing on the “Pleasure of Weeding”. David gave an inspiring talk to us last year on Gilbert White gardens in Selbourne, so it is lovely to have him back; on a rather different topic. Weeding, a task most of us dread! It will be fascinating to get another perspective on it. The talk is on Thursday 14th May at the W.I. hall, The Street, Crookham Village, GU515SJ. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Please get in touch with me, helenmhoward@icloud.com or 07754 706958 if you plan on attending, so we have an idea of numbers. To cover our costs
members entry £3 and non members £5. There will be a raffle and refreshments.
The Royal Horticultural Society yellow book is available at the Trading shed, detailing all the open gardens that are taking place throughout the year. This is a really useful booklet especially if you have a few spare hours and love visiting new places that are not usually open to the public.
If you still need to renew your membership please call in to the shed or get in touch and we can provide the bank details for a bank transfer. Renewals are required by the end of May, as our membership list will be updated then. After that date, unless you have renewed, you will not receive any further newsletters or garden society information. Membership remains at £5 for the year per person.
